Xchange™ Robotic Collimator Changer

Developed to streamline clinical workflow and help improve the quality of delivered treatment plans, the Xchange™ Robotic Collimator Changer supports the sub-millimeter accuracy requirements of full-body radiosurgery while enabling the potential to significantly reduce treatment times and total Monitor Units delivered.

Continuous treatment without interruption
Fully integrated with the CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery treatment delivery system, the Xchange Robotic Collimator Changer automatically switches out one secondary collimator for another – in just over one minute. Technologists no longer have to enter the treatment room, manually remove one collimator and insert another.  Without the need to enter the treatment room, treatment interruption and patient disturbance is minimized which dramatically reduces the potential for patient movement and any required set up of the patient again.

High quality treatment plans
With the ability to create treatment plans using two or three different sized collimators, clinicians can better target tumors anywhere in the body while sparing critical structures. Using two or three collimators can potentially enhance treatments in the areas of tumor coverage, conformality, homogeneity or reduced Monitor Units delivered, often without sacrificing quality in the other areas.

Reduces treatment time and dosage requirements
In addition to streamlining clinical workflow, the Xchange Robotic Collimator Changer enables dramatic reduction of Monitor Units using multiple collimators thereby reducing beam on time. With new path sets in the CyberKnife System, clinicians can now equally divide a typical 120-node path set into three sub-path sets – and use a different collimator for each path. The overall result is less dosage per treatment and less treatment time for patients
