href=\"https:\/\/www.accuray.com\/cyberknife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CyberKnife System<\/a> is a non-invasive treatment for cancerous and non-cancerous tumors and other conditions where radiation therapy is indicated. It is used to treat conditions throughout the body, including the prostate, lung, brain, spine, head and neck, liver, pancreas, and kidney, and can be an alternative to surgery or for patients who have inoperable or surgically complex tumors. CyberKnife treatments are typically performed in 1 to 5 sessions. He was treated with definitive Palladium-103 (Pd-103) brachytherapy (125 Gy) and had\nan initially excellent biochemical response. However, the patient subsequently had a PSA failure several years later and imaging with biopsy confirmed a local recurrence of his prostate pre-treatment process for all patients receiving treatment with the CyberKnife System for prostate cancer includes the implantation of four gold fiducial markers and a rectal hydrogel placed under TRUS guidance. This is done either by the Urologist or Radiation Oncologist. The rectal hydrogel is used to minimize dose to the rectum. Planning MRI prostate and CT sim are performed approximately one week after fiducial and rectal hydrogel placement. Prior to CT sim and prior to every treatment fraction the patient is asked to empty bladder and use a Fleet enema. Patients are positioned for treatment, supine with a knee rest for support.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-584ca51 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"584ca51\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-9ca1e6a\" data-id=\"9ca1e6a\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9362daa elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"9362daa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">TREATMENT PLANNING AND DELIVERY:<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9913472 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9913472\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li class=\"p1\">47 non-coplanar beams using sing InCise<span class=\"s1\">\u2122 <\/span>MLC<\/li><li class=\"p1\">34 Gy in 5 fractions prescribed to 57.3% of maximum dose (mean 44 Gy, max 59 Gy)<\/li><li class=\"p1\">A modification of Dr. Fuller et al. (2015) protocol<span class=\"s2\">1 <\/span>was used. We were able to create an HDR-like dose distribution to avoid hot spots in the urethra and preferentially irradiate the prostate and the periphery, particularly the gross disease.<\/li><li class=\"p1\">With VOLO<span class=\"s1\">\u2122 <\/span>optimization, beam-on time was 24 minutes per fraction<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5999713 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5999713\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-74b37dc\" data-id=\"74b37dc\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3ab7a02 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3ab7a02\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">POST-TREATMENT:<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dd9ee72 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dd9ee72\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPatient reported acute toxicity as expected.
